Passenger beaten after opening plane’s emergency door during flight: ‘He almost lost consciousness’

He got a club-bing mile high.

An unruly passenger was beaten to the pulp after trying to open the emergency door on a flight from Brazil to Panama, as seen in a viral X video that went viral online.

“One flight attendant started screaming and another tried to hold him but couldn’t because he was too strong,” said photojournalist Cristiano Carvalho, 51, who recorded the chaotic scene.

The blast reportedly occurred Tuesday morning on a Copa Airlines flight CM204 from Brasilia to Panama City in Panama.

“The crew acted quickly and, with the help of several passengers, implemented the necessary safety protocols to control the situation until landing in Panama,” Copa Airlines representatives said. “Thanks to the professionalism of the crew, the safety of the flight and passengers was protected. The flight had continued swimmingly until 30 minutes before landing, when the subject rushed to the back of the plane with a plastic knife from his food tray and tried to take a flight attendant hostage with the intention of opening the plane’s door.

“He went through the back door of the emergency room after the warning,” Carvalho recalled. “Then he started moving forward and trying to open it.”

At that time the passengers came to the rescue and struggled with the man to stop him from his apparently premature attempt to disembark.

Despite initially struggling due to the man’s strength, the Sky High Samaritans eventually succeeded in restraining the airhead after beating him bloody.

“They beat him a lot until he almost lost consciousness,” Carvalho described.

Accompanying footage shows passengers holding the battered flyer, whose face is visibly bloodied, as crew members chain his wrists.

In a recent statement, representatives of Copa Airlines claimed after landing in Panama “the national security team entered the plane and removed the passenger, taking him to judicial authorities.”

Later photos taken after landing show authorities escorting the battered man off the plane in handcuffs.

Since then, the airline has praised the crew members and fliers who came together to stop the tall spit.

“The crew acted quickly and, with the help of several passengers, implemented the necessary safety protocols to control the situation until landing in Panama,” the spokesman said. “Thanks to the professionalism of the crew, the safety of the flight and passengers was protected.

In a similar incident in August, an ancy passenger was arrested in Australia after he “opened” a stalled plane’s emergency exit and walked along its wing.
